In High School, Tanae averaged 16,2 points and 4,2 rebounds, being named Area Player of the Year and in the Best Five of the Area. Tanae Davis-Cain played for Florida State University and she already averaged 5,4 points and 2,3 rebounds in 16 minutes per game in her freshman season. Florida State has a good 20-10 record and loses in second round against Stanford who had Candice Wiggins, Kristen Newlin and Brooke Smith.

In the 2006-07 season and as sophomore player, Tanae raises her numbers up to 9,2 points and 3,2 rebounds in 29 minutes. Florida State advances one step more in the NCAA Tournament, reaching the Sweet 16 after having a 24-10 record and after beating Old Dominion (with 24 points by Tanae) in first round, Stanford who had already recruited Jayne Appel in second round but losing against Sylvia Fowles and Quianna Chaney´s LSU. After senior Alicia Gladden departure, Tanae Davis-Cain increases her role in her junior season and in the 2007-08 season she averages 15 points and 4,6 rebounds per game, leading Florida State to a 19-13 record. In the NCAA Tournament, Florida State beats Jantel Lavender and Marscilla Packer´s Ohio State with 27 points and 7 rebounds by Tanae but loses in second round against Oklahoma State.

Once her college career was over and after breaking the three point record in Florida State history and being named in the ACC third team and ACC Tournament second team, Tanae Davis-Cain was drafted in the 37th pick of 2009 WNBA Draft. In her first preseason game with Detroit Shock, Tanae is the team top scorer with 14 points (5/8 from the field) and 4 steals in 21 minutes against Chicago Sky.

Afterwards, Tanae is called to rejoin the team for the last game of the season against Chicago Sky. Tanae Davis-Cain is a great shooting guard, with excellent athleticism and very good fundamentals both driving to the basket and shooting from mid-long range.
